Nick Robinson
Nick began b-boying in 2001 at Leaping Feats Creative Danceworks as an enjoyable way to pass time in his home town of Whitehorse Yukon. Over the years Nick became increasingly passionate about dancing, and in 2004 Yukon’s Groundwork Sessions (GWS) crew was formed. Groundwork Sessions crew has 6 members and is the one and only b-boy crew from the Yukon. Together, Nick and his crew have built a name for themselves not only within the Yukon, but throughout the Canadian scene. Nick’s home in the Yukon is surrounded by a vast wilderness, the perfect training ground for developing his unique northern bboy style. He loves to flip off tall structures, run with wild abandon through the dangerous Yukon forest, and jam regularly with the local wildlife. In order to stay warm through the cold north of 60 winters, Nick and his crew enjoy house dancing, hiphop, popping and locking as well as b-boying. He loves to groove, and has the will and the way to entertain audiences from Yukon to Toronto. To date, Nick has performed at countless events across the country, including the closing ceremonies of the 2005 and 2007 Canada Games, the 2006 Halifax Busker Festival, the 2006 and 2008 Arctic Winter Games, and Ottawa’s Winterlude festival two years running. He has also made appearances on
Citytv’s Breakfast Television and CBC’s Rick Mercer Report. In 2008 Nick was featured in ‘Up Here Magazine’ as one of the North`s top youth, due largely to his successes as a performer, a leader, and a roll model for the North`s youth. Most recently Nick and his crew represented the Yukon at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games. Nick currently lives in Toronto where he attends the University of Toronto while working professionally as a dancer. He is committed to his art, his crew and his passion. Nick lives by the rule that if there isn’t a way... make one.
