Niki Wozniak
Niki Wozniak is an award-winning dancer who hashad the honour of performing in the works of Robert Desrosiers, Peggy Baker, Shawn Hounsell, Siona Jackson, Linda Garneau, David Connolly, Patti Wilcox, Sean Curran, Laila Diallo and more. She recently danced in the Canadian Opera Company’s 2010/11 season in Aida and Nixonin China (Four Seasons Centre, Toronto).
Niki began dance training in her hometown of Prince Albert, SK. Upon receiving her Advanced 2 Ballet Honours Certificate with the Royal Academyof Dance and Advanced Tap & Jazz Honours Certificates with the Canadian Dance Teacher’s Association, she moved to Toronto to attend Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts. She was then selected to train at The Professional Project 2004 (affiliated with The Juilliard School, now Springboard Dance) in Montreal, and with Doug Varone and Dancers in New York.
As Artistic Director of Desiraeda Dance Theatre since 2007,Niki has choreographed several works for the company, including the duet “And then there were two…” (The Chimera Project’s Fresh Blood; Enwave Theatre, Toronto 2009), which received an honourable mention from dance critic Paula Citron, andmost recently Weight (Dancemakers Centre for Creation, Toronto 2010), her first evening lengthwork.
Other projects have included choreography for the documentary series Science of Sin (VisionTV); Lift, a short dance film directed by Chris Muir; the National Modern Dance Theatre (SK); Toronto International Dance Festival 2006; Series 8:08; and the Rotary Club of Toronto’s 2008 Black Tie Icebreaker event. Niki was also the Dance Director and Choreographer for the Red Rain Energy Drink National Promo Campaign 2007 for Peach Stone Media Inc. and Cott Beverages. Currently, she can be seen dancing in the OLG Instant Crossword Irish Dance commercial and in Serena Ryder & the Beauties music video Slow.
Niki is also a sought after teacher and adjudicator, throughout Canadaand the United States.
