Nailah Renuka

Nailah is an athletic and energetic performer, teacher, and choreographer who has been a committed member of the global performing arts community since she was a young child.

A graduate of York University’s Dance program, her distinctive athleticism and energetic performance quality stems from her background in musical theatre and gymnastics. Since graduating, she has trained and perform with companies including VIM VIGOR, Ailey II, Helen Simoneau, and Buglisi Dance Theater. As an independent freelance dancer in Toronto, she has worked with Theatre Oculus; Expect Theatre; The And, Stage Company; and VIBE Arts. Nailah has been a gymnastics and dance coach, teacher, and choreographer around the city for more than seven years, and teaches acro and contortion virtually to athletes and performers all over the world.

Outside of the studio, she works as Social Media Manager for JUNTOS Collective, a non-profit organization that brings dance education to underserved communities in Latin America, as well as Gotta Dance’s Digital Content Creator.

Nailah is constantly searching for further learning opportunities to strengthen her skills as a teacher, performer, and choreographer. Her work is known for diverse interdisciplinary collaboration, sophisticated athleticism, and nuanced musicality. She has recently began to explore performing as a cirque artist, specializing in acrobatics, handbalancing, and contortion, and is in the process of completing her bachelor’s degree in Athletic Therapy at Sheridan College.
